Loaned my engine instruction manuals file to a friend who is now out of town when I need the file. I know some of my non-Lionel TMCC engines have selectable speed step settings, 32 or 100 etc. Need to know what 5he keystroke sequences are for toggling between available ranges. Anybody know?

It depends on which TMCC control package they have installed. Are they ERR equipped or are they using the TAS SAW or TAS EOB package?
I have a K-Line Mikado with factory TMCC. I added cruise using ERR comander I purchsed from Boxcar Bill. Everything works fine but it is at 32 speed steps.
I tried the ALT 1-Dir-Alt1-Dir-Boost. It does not change it to the 128 steps.
I am using a Cab2 controller to do this. Track is powered and engine is powered on sitting still while I do this.
Any help appreciated.
Remember, you have to run it in CAB1 mode or R100 mode to use 100 speed steps. If you use TMCC, it will only do 32 steps. R100 mode was made for use with the Cruise Commander, so it's the preferred mode. It'll also give you some extra features over CAB1 emulation mode.
Thanks John. You nailed it. R100 mode works very well. The only feature I've noticed losing so far is being able to changer direction when stopped with the big red knob.
R100 offers much better control...thanks.
Yep, you are running in relative mode with R100, so the TMCC absolute step direction switch with the throttle knob doesn't work.
One other thing you'll notice is that the speed graph doesn't always stay synchronized with the actual locomotive speed as well. It's pretty good, but not always right on the mark. This is due to the fact that you're using relative steps, and if you miss one or two throttling up or down, you're out of sync with the display. When you come to a stop or change directions, the display synchronizes with the speed again.
Another thing you will lose is the ability for the brake feature to stop and stay stopped, as soon as you let go, it'll resume the previous speed. A trick I use is to flip the throttle knob after stopping, then the new speed sticks.
Please tell what the R 100 mode is? Is it something else than cab 1 and tmcc and if so how do you get it. I have a weaver cp rail steamer that has eob but the 1st speed step is not real slow and would like to get it to creep. Is that possible with the eob.
Once you have the locomotive entered into the CAB2, press the INFO button. Hit SCROLL and on the bottom of the display you should see CAB1, TMCC, R100, and Legacy. Press R100.
If you don't see that, you need to update to the current version of firmware for your Legacy base and remote.
My EOB stuff does pretty well with R100.
thanks, I will try it. does it also work for the kline cruse control?
Yep, once you set the K-Line to 128 steps, it works fine.
