Appreciate any help/ideas on why my TMCC Speeder, 73-7065-250, would begin to short only in the forward direction. No issues at all running in the reverse direction. Forward is with the flashing roof beacon at the front, reverse with it at the rear.

In addition, the roller on the forward side has become more heavily carbonized.

First, I thought there might be some contact between roller and frame. Couldn't find any and no help from using insulated tape on sides of roller.   (See photo)

I also took off the shell, thinking perhaps there was wire contact inside, but could not see any. See other photo.

What do you all think?

Unplug the 10-pin plug and connect a AA battery to the Blue and Yellow leads, see if the motor runs.  Reverse the battery and see if it runs in the opposite direction.  If so, that should indicate it's not the motor.  Next, check continuity between the two rollers, they should be connected.  If all that is good, I'm guessing maybe the board FET driver got toasted.  I don't recognize the number on the on-board FET's, so I'm not sure what they are.
