Is there any way to splice the film in a Lionel aquarium car? We tried tape but it didn't last long.

If it is old 8mm film?,they made splicing kits. I would look on the Bay for the old ones.

Thanks Dale but how do I find out if its 8mm film? Is that the height of the film?
If it's the old Postwar car, then it's 35mm (and good luck finding a splicing kit). The newer, more recent ones have a soft vinyl strip that was heat-bonded. Either way, though, 3M frosted tape (in the green packaging - that's packaging, not the tape itself) should hold with no problem.
I've used clear packing tape on both sides. Use a piece that is approx 6" (3" on each side of the tear). You will likely have to trim it but take your time and make sure it is totally pressed down along the entire length.
If it's 35mm you could use two 16mm splicing tape. You can still get 35mm splicing tape at a theater supply company. http://www.numbersfilmsupply.c...PLIES/SPLICING-TAPE/ Don
