Last Spring I purchased a Lionel 6-18000 B6 steam switcher. It was listed as used but the wheels and pick-ups were so clean I doubt it had any more track time than simply testing. While running it this evening I noticed squealing off and on. The type of squealing you might hear from a bad bearing. I checked all the lube points and found them to be sufficiently oiled and lubed. On my bench I cannot determine if the squealing is coming from the armature or from the drive shaft.
I would imagine a new motor can be had.
