I was called for UP's train  MASKC 27. From Alton & Southern's Gateway yard in E. St. Louis to Kansas City with a crew change at Jeff City, MO.

Power was UP 7855, UP6749, about 8800 HP, or in UP terms the equivilent of 24.2 powered axles.

60 loads 45 MTs, 6500 feet long and 8300 tons.

The lead motor, UP7855 had a Trip Monitor on the computer screen, I started it about mile post 4 on the UP's Jefferson City Sub just west of downtown St. Louis, after crossing the Missippi River, and stopped it at milepost 124 at Jefferson City, about 120miles, (lose 3 miles as they skip from mile post 52 to 55 account line relocations over the years.)

trip monitor time 5:50PM to 9:07PM, 3'17",

The trip monitor showed these acumulated statistics.

Throttle poistion: Miles in position: Time in posistion

TP      Miles     Time

IDLE   2.0      6"46sec

T1      0.9      1"51

T2      3.7      6"32

T3      2.7    10"20

T4      7.8    12"49

T5     53.7   1'13"

T6     26.4    37"59

T7     11.2    17"30

T8     4.4     11.28

Dynamic brake

DB1-2  2.3   8"58

DB3-4  3.4   6"11

DB5-6  1.0   2"08

DB7-8  1.1   1"37

Maximum Speed 50.3, Average speed 36.9

Throttle 8 was used climbing Kirkwood Hill in suburban St. Louis, milepost 9 to 13, Dynamic Brake 7-8 was used rolling down the west side of Kirkwood Hill, the only other grade is west of Pacific, MO, not nearly as tough as Kirkwood which is just under 1%.  Otherwise the Jefferson City sub is nearly flat along the Missouri River.

Pretty good trip, still had to set out the six head cars at Jeff City yard for the area industries and west local. That time was not included.

Went on  at duty 4:30PM. off duty at 10:30PM off to the hotel.
