Star Talking Station

I have one of these records too #297A&B I also have #298A&B That has the Broadway Limited at Fort Wayne sounds and The General at Pittsburgh station sounds. I'm trying to copy these records on CD's, but having a hard time finding someone to do it. Does anyone know if these sounds are available on You Tube or someplace else.

I have the Senco Sound Tender (became a quest when Fred Dole wrote an article about finding one at a flea market). The same outfit made the station. In the follow up article, there was some ad reprints, and a station was mentioned, but not pictured.I've got the records too.

I too have the records but have never been able to determine if there was a station in the same sense as a Noma or American Flyer. About the only really useful info is on the record jacket and even that is somewhat hazy.

There are sound samples of the of the AF, and Noma stations and the various versions they had on vinyl. They can (or could?) be found by eBay links. A company makes a modern electronic version of the talking stations sounds sells there.

 You can now have both the AF and Noma sounds in the same station. Not to mention steam or diesel, or the various station names used, and a few of the recordings though similar, had variations too. You can even get your own voice put in the chip as an alternate announcement suiting your needs. It wouldn't surprise me if the makers were as interested as you to hear a version by Star, possibly to add it to their offerings.

  Noting the other makers had various masters for the same basic recordings, you folks should record yours and share for comparison, despite quality.

You know, we also have some audiophile fans on the forum. Searching audiophile, or a thread asking for audiophiles with a turntable  might get you a digital copy (record player might be a better word here).

78rpm being available is the big worry.

If the dough is secondary, any half decent recording studio should be able to copy it; the price is the question. Studios are more common than you might think. There is just a tendency to use less obvious store fronts than most businesses.

I can transfer the 78s to CD for you. I do it all the time. My e-mail is in my profile.

How about these 2! 

The above recordings were taken from a cassette tape I bought back in 1988. It has 26 Railroad recordings electronically enhanced from original floppy & disc records produced by Lionel, American Flyer, Marx, Noma and Colber. These were from 1947 to 1960.

MILNYC offered to do the 78 and transfer to CD - I would be more than happy to do the cassette, if you're interested

If you ship the cassette make sure it is in a case that locks the reels in place, or lock them with crumpled paper and tape, etc. It will keep the tape from unwinding and possibly birds nesting will be nil.
