Stauffer Chemical tank car pictures?

Yes I did that. Your's did get a few more than mine for some reason? The very first is an Allied Chem car and also some Hooker and others. The search engines find anything with any piece of the words in them.

Most were toy cars. Some were the older era cars. I'm really looking for the last ones that were painted for Stauffer. I'm going to assume that the Atlas O scale model had a real prototype. I don't remember seeing the real car?

The Book American Car and Foundry the first 100 Years  by Edward J. Kaminski from the signature press has a big chapter @#2 dedicated to tank cars. there are several pic of Stauffer Chemical tank cars leased from Shippers car line:

SHPX series : 85146-85150 21,730 Gallon cars

then ACFX series: 85273-85293 17,375 Gallon cars

Both built in the late 1960's

In reviewing the Stauffer Chemical Co history, it looks like the company was purchased in the late 1980's

Hello, Engineer Joe. My father too worked for Stauffer back in the 1960's and retired from there in 1984 when my daughter was born. He worked in sales department out of San Francisco CA. Dad traveled around the country visiting a lot of the different plants and took many slides of the trains and anything else he could use for his sales presentations.  He passed away a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I over saw the estate sale and found no use in keeping any of the slides and let them go in the estate sale. Now that I am into trains and have managed to find about 15 MTH Staffuer cars I wish I had kept some of the slides.

I got Kaminsky's other book - ACF Tank Cars.  Looked through it exactly once.  Every page looks the same to me - no color at all.

I usually luck out on train books.  I have great success with Bob Church and those really great SP freight car books.  And truly love most of the Morning Sun and Four Ways West books.
