I have looked at the catalogs or the last 5 years and find no mention passenger car sizes except for the "Show Room" cars.    What size are the "418" series of passenger cars?

From largest to smallest in STANDARD GUAGE:

Showroom cars are the largest at 30"  Largest

State Cars

Comet cars/Girard/Presidential about same size I think

418 series are smallest?  What size are these?

Thanks

I attached a photo of a State car a 418 car and a 339 car.

20 1/4" is coupler tip to coupler tip. the car vestibule door to door is about 18".

State car is a couple of inches longer and a little taller. The 339 car is quite a bit smaller. If there is one smaller it is not by much.

Girard cars are smaller than 418 cars and Blue Comet cars. Blue Comet car are about the size of 418 cars except they do not have a clerestory.

The Apple Green is really nice. They have six wheel trucks unlike the Orange and Dark Green sets which are 428 cars and have 4 wheel trucks.

The Apple Green fills 2 really nice classic sets. Apple Green 408E and 400E Black with brass trim.

I bought the pink car at York. It is the 3rd car for a really nice set.

The Brown State car is a baggage car. It is pretty hard to find.

Thanks for all the info. The reason I was asking is that I was thinking about getting a 400e in either blue comet form or Lionel Blue and Orange.  The Lionel lines 400e doesn't have a matching passenger set except for the all orange 418 from the 2011 catalog.(11-40051)  Not even sure if those are "Lionel Orange" Sure looks like it though.

Jim, Is that really Pepto Pink? I saw what looks to be the same color on the Mojave 408e set from the 2011 catalog. The color has an unexpected appeal to me. Thats what I really like about Tinplate, the color.
