Good morning, STEAMday Sunday fans. This is the place to post photos, videos and comments about your favorite steam locomotives.

Just be sure that the photos and videos you post were taken by you, or that you have the express written permission of the owner to post them, and otherwise comply with the Forum Terms of Service.

Today, I will take us back to the 1940s where I live in Northen Westchester County, New York. Behold, there is a ten wheeler hauling NY Central Madison Heavyweight passenger cars approaching the Yorktown Heights Station along The Put:

The model of that steam locomotive is a Lionel Legacy with whistle steam.

Now it's your turn to show us your steam locomotives. Arnold

Good morning, StDaySun fans!  Thanks, Arnold, for steaming us up.  Every time I see your 10 wheeler, I know I need one!

My grandson is visiting this weekend; it’s tough to take videos and photos when he has his hand on the throttle, so a trip to the archives is in order.  I found an oldie but goodie, NYC 0-4-0 no. 901, teamed up with NYC 0-6-0T no. X-8688, on a coal drag in a classic display of steam power.  NYC 4-8-2 Mohawk no. 3000 is also seen on the adjacent track.

OK folks, I am going to ask for your indulgence...I know you have all posted beautiful scale and semi scale steam locomotives, BUT I am a TOY train collector at heart and thought you might enjoy one of my (most certainly) "toy" sets.  I like to think of the joy this little gal brought to some very eager youngster on Christmas or a Birthday, its colorful engine pulling its one car train around a circle.  This was manufactured by Distler, a German firm, likely in the 1960's or 1970's.  The set trade name was..."The Little Choo Choo"  and most probably sold via a modest store such as Woolworth's .  It is marked "made in Western Germany" which is the colloquial name for the Federal Republic of Germany, founded from the Allied occupation zones in 1949 and lasting until German reunification in 1990.  It is clockwork and runs fine on its little circle but has no speed control so tends to go like mad at first!

Here she is with her little train.  The freight house in the rear also has an interesting history.  Starting off as Bing, becoming Hafner, then finally Marx (all in different color liveries).

And just to complete the fantasy scheme, here is the box lid with the little locomotive smoking a pipe!

OK there you have it.  Hope you enjoyed this little deviation off into..."toy train land".

Hope you have a great week

Best Regards

Don
