Let’s see your streamlined steam! I’ll start with mine.

I recently posted items for sale and sold my Lionel Yellowbelly, a streamlined C&O engine. I plan to reduce the herd even more this year and thought this would be a good time to get the group together. Every once in a while, there’s a post on streamlined steamers, so I thought I’d start a new one. The Yellowbelly is pictured below. In addition, there’s a N&W J (probably my favorite because Lionel made it in the 50’s); the New Haven I5; NYC Empire State Express (my first MTH premier engine); NYC Dreyfus Hudson; Southern RR Tennessean; B&O Cincinnatian; Reading Crusader; Santa Fe Blue Goose; Canadian National U1F Mountain, and SP Daylight. A lot of these were made by Weaver in the 1990’s and had no command control. Mine have been upgraded to DCS.

I’ve sold a number of streamlined steam engines. I had 2 Commodore Vanderbilts (one was actually sold to MTH!); CP Royal Hudson; PRR Torpedo; PRR S1 (really big); a UP 49er, and a Hiawatha. Maybe more, but I don’t remember.

BTW, do you consider the SP Daylight to be streamlined? Does it have enough changes from a normal steam engine to qualify? Same question about the CP Royal Hudson. Let us know your thoughts.

Gerry

AFAIK only Weaver has made one.
Gerry, to answer your question, I think the GS4 and Royal hudson are considered semi-streamlined. So technically they'd count as streamlined steam locomotives.

Sunset / 3rd Rail did the streamlined P-7 locomotive and the full Cincinattian passenger train that went with it.  It was a very limited run and sold out very quickly.  I recall it being around 2015.

Southern Pacific Daylight

The Southern Pacific Railroad certainly considered the Daylight locomotives as being streamlined.  The SP advertised the Daylight trains as being the most beautiful streamlined trains in the world.  NH Joe

Gorgeous engines, Gerry......I especially love the NH I5 Hudson!

Has MTH or Lionel ever done the B&O Cincinnatian?

No. About a year after Weaver first announced the Cincinnatian, MTH put a premier Cincinnatian in their catalog. I had ordered the Weaver but they hadn't arrived by that time and there was no ETA. I canceled the Weaver and ordered the MTH. MTH never produced it. They didn't get enough orders. Weaver then did a second run. You can profitably produce a lot fewer brass engines than die cast engines.
