Hello Structural Engineers!
My question is simple (although the answer may not be):
When 2 "I" beams meet each other at 90 degrees, how are they joined?
- They are simply welded together as a "T".
- The web? of one is cut and they are welded together as shown below:
- Joining plates are riveted to the two mated "I" beams on both sides of the joint.
- Some other approach? (If so, please elaborate).
If you have seen this or have experience with this in the real world, please weigh in with your thoughts.
Many thanks,
George
