Miller Engineering is about to do an iconic sign: Scranton the Electric City. My question is; does anyone make a structure, kit or otherwise, that comes close to the building on which sits the original sign? Thanks in advance.

That's a very impressive structure. Unfortunately, I don't know of anything like it in the O gauge world. However, with the availability of various building fronts, components, and the sign itself, scratchbuilding it shouldn't be out of the question. The fact that the building exists and you can get photos is a big advantage.

Thanks George. I believe it is the Scranton Board of Trade Building. I grew up in that area and went to high school in Scranton and try to get back there at least once a year for a kilbasi and beer run. When Miller Engineering announced that sign I knew I had to find a place on the layout for it.
chooch enterprises had a resin building front that was surprisingly like the large tan part of that building, maybe even including the bottom. unfortunately, they discontinued all their o scale building fronts last year and I don't know whether they will resurrect any. they were based on real buildings and the designs of an actual architect. very detailed but not cheap. they didn't sell these through any other retailers but maybe it would be possible (and lucky) to find one one eBay.

While not a perfect match, you can probably finagle something close to it with his stock parts.
Hello ,
I could make that front for you , or a 4 sided building , including the windows . I can be reached in my profile here.

I can tell you that scratchbuilder 1-48 is an awesome model builder. He has constructed many buildings for us and is second to none
Here are some examples
Pipe company
Diesel service facility
And this is my favoriite The model is an exact duplicate of the Lackawanna's Broad street station in Newark
Ben, Those are GREAT LOOKING BUILDINGS he has done for you.
On a side note I also really like your rail traffic in the 3rd picture.

Very rarely, I am deceived on first glance into thinking a photograph posted to this forum is of a full-scale scene rather than a model. The above picture was one of these. Almost always there is something that gives away the scale. This one is flawless!
Hey EL guy
Where is something you built ? It amazes me of all the experts who make comments and can't glue a snap together kit together . And furthermore their layout looks like a 5 yr old built it .
