I am looking for suggestions for the center of my tinplate layout expansion. The club limits me to $100.00 so just adding a Lionel powerhouse is way out of the budget.
This is looking the other direction:

Quarry with a swimming pond/lake.

Good spot for a switch tower and freight sheds
How about a baseball diamond/field.
A farm or a zoo/wildlife area.
How about a few homes, trees, grass, etc?
With plastic rustic fence pieces, create a "corral" to contain juvenile dinosaurs. It would be a hit with youngsters. A corner of my layout is populated with dinos from the toy collection of my great-grandson, and the Lionel DINOSAUR TRAIN SET is parked nearby. Photo attached.

How about a Marx tinplate castle? Make it a tourist attraction with re enactments from the times of Kings and Knights.

A farm would work if you can find one.
As for a little village most of these cookie tin houses were $12 or less. Big Ben cost me about $37 but took me a year to find
I bought my Big Ben on Amazon. It came with the cookies!
