I feel like this is an appropriate use of the 3-Rail Scale Model Trains forum since there is no product forum for Sunset/3rd Rail and I'm asking about a 3-rail scale model. If not, feel free to move it to a more appropriate place.
On to my question. Does anyone know which configuration the model of #3751 represented that 3rd Rail released several years ago? Was it a model of the 1927 as-built, the 1938 rebuild, or the later 1939-1940 rebuild? I've seen them with oil tenders, but from my research the prototypes were converted to oil in 1937 and 1938 and then later the larger 80" Boxpok drivers were added with Timken roller bearings and the smokebox was lengthened along with other upgrades.
Did 3rd Rail offer more than one version? How accurate were they?
