Hi,
I have one of the above and no, it is not for sale. It has a doghouse on the tender. Did it come with the doghouse or was it an "add on" by the previous owner?
Thanks,
Ed

MTH decapod had no doghouse. Edit/Add: Russian decapods were manufactured by the Baldwin Locomotive Company, Philadelphia, PA for Russia, just before the revolution, 1917. Ready for shipment, the USRA, rather than see Baldwin go under, stepped-in and insisted, a list of railroads, purchase these locomotives. Most noted change, was the track gauge, from 5 ft gauge to 4' 8". Pittsburg Shawmut & Northern had one.
Mike,
Thanks for the reply. Different roads had different versions of the engine and tender. I am looking for info on the MoPac version.

At least some MoPac Russian Decapods had doghouses.

Other versions of the Sunset model that I have seen in Frisco and Erie do not have the doghouse. However, knowing the history of Sunset models and road specific detailing it is possible that the doghouse on the MOPAC version is factory, but I have not found evidence yet to support that.
I think I remember (a scarey thing) that I have seen a mopac version at a train show that had the doghouse - unpainted and nib. I'm not sure however.

That's interesting as most, if not all Frisco Russian Decapods had a doghouse.
Eagle-Picher removed them when they cut back the coal bunker on the five they bought from the Frisco. IRM fabricated a new doghouse after they returned 1630's tender back to it's original configuration.

Well this is a surprising thread !!!! I’ve been a Sunset 3rd Rail fan since 2010 or so but I’ve never heard or seen mention of a decapod model - especially if it was Missouri Pacific or Frisco (2 roads I collect). I’ve not run across any in auctions either. These issues must be from an early run. I’d love to see some pictures - including the info on the box end. Perhaps this become a new “holy grail” pursuit for me. 😳🤔😮

These are Sunset models that were produced before they expanded into 3-rail with the Sunset/3rd Rail line.
All of these Decapods are 2-rail only.
Per Collias, most MoPac freight engines had a doghouse at one time or another, and some of the passenger power did, too.
I wish we had an easy database of MoPac Ssteam by class (as we do with Frisco), but, though you'll find an excellent selection in the MPHS archives, they aren't really online yet.
