I regularly doublehead a B&A Berkshire with an L2a Mohahawk. This was a frequent occurrence during the war years. Sounds starting out are awesome as the chuffs are out of sync with another and both sound a little different. I run Kadee's on everything. The Weaver couplers have a wider shank than the Kadee to make drilling a hole to match the Lionel bolt a little easier. Some cutting and filing and you can get a working coupler that double heads well. After looking at the Mohawk it has an exposed spring. Must be a Kadee. Maybe I installed the shorter version coupler. Anyways the height match is off just slightly. I think I glued a washer on the bottom so it would fit the box a little more snug. Engine chassis' tend to raise and lower as they move and there are no issues with this setup.

Just curious if you are running with this setup. The dummy coupler mates well but it is short seeing it is scale and doesn't have a lot of swing from side to side.

Kadee installed on the Mohawk.

Dave thanks for the info.  The Kadee I put on the the tender as the outside spring #805 I think, works well on my pike, the new Kadee's will not work with the Lionel front dummy coupler.

Clem

Time for both MTH and Lionel to drop the DUMMY in the front coupler and put a working scale coupler in it's place.  PLEASE
