Our friend and fellow train enthusiast called yesterday to give us a headsup on a New York Central heavyweight open platform car at South Station. It is one of the many privately owned cars that shows up here. As we were headed across the platform to view and photo the NYC car, we were treated to a unique sight. An MBTA GP7 double headed with an MBTA F40PH. Needless to say, I got quite a few pictures of both. For the history of the NYC car you can go to www.NYC-3.com.

Yes Eddie, I knew that. I read up on all the cars that we see as soon as I get to my computer. Some of them I already have knowledge of, but there are always a few little interesting tidbits that escaped me or I had forgotten. I consider myself fortunate not only to live in a prime train watching area, (close to Boston that has North and South Stations, I'm a half mile from Readville station, 1 1/2  miles from Amtrak's 128 station, and a ticket away from New York), but I also have Marty Fitzhenry's expertise available.
