It's cold outside, it's wintertime, people are grouchy, there isn't a day-off/holiday in sight, but who cares because it's Saturday and that means it's #SwitcherSaturday time!!!!

Lots of us out there love switchers (shifters, docksiders, yard goats, critters, etc.), so lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

Last week we had over 40 posts of pictures, comments, and video! Thanks to everyone for making this so much fun!

Today at the Murnane house we have my Lego doppelgänger climbing around on B&O engine #9416 (B&O Atlas O p/n 6114-1 SW900 SW 900).  Note the guy on the left is me, the right is my buddy from growing up.

I hope everyone everyone enjoys their weekend and stays warm, if you get a chance, please post some pictures or video of your favorite switchers!

Best...Rich Murnane

p.s. Miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday

p.s.s. There are quite a few switchers in the new Lionel catalogs, I think Tom (MNCW) was the only one last week who mentioned he wasn't going to pick any up, anyone else out there interested in any of the new switchers?

Rich and all,

Happy Switcher Saturday. I will get with the program and my picture is of Conrail #9929, an Alco RS-3, operating in what looks to be a typical Pennsylvania small town.

Nice picture.  A quick thing about the engine.

It is actually a rebuild and not classed as a RS3 but is now an RS3m or a "Dewitt Geep". This was a rebuild project started under PC and continued by Conrail done to older Alcos where the Alco engines were transplanted with EMD engines from E7s. There were two styles of this done. One was more boxey and one more rounded. A quick spotting feature is the double EMD style stacks on the long hood and the two round fans on the top of the end of the long hood.

I have a Lionel shell that I am turning into one right now hence my nerdy interest.

since I haven't gotten around to gathering up a correct tender for 1622, I threw some Prewar trucks on an MPC tender I had, and made a quick and dirty drawbar until I decide if I just reletter and do some detailing on this one. even added a siding for 1622.

and some more random internet shots. have a great weekend all.

BNSF Clyde yard Cicero, IL 1/25/2016. I see these two when I pass here on my delivery route. Anyone know what these are? Looks to me like a gp38 with a big sd40 unit working out its final days. Used my phone to take the photos.

Hey Steamer Dave, assuming you move forward with the project, that tender is going to look great when you're done with it, can't wait to see more pictures.  All the best...Rich

Hey, guys.

Sorry I didn't jump in on the fun as usual yesterday but I was on the road at the "Big E" show at West Springfield. That said, Switcher Saturday was still in my thoughts and I was able to catch some switching action on one of the HO modular layouts. Here we see IHB and CN units drilling freight cars as a U.S. Army S-2 awaits the call to duty.

Geez, Bob, I never even thought of asking if you would be coming up here to the "Big E" show...I could have just handed you the 2 books you bought from me!  Were you at the 2 PM OGR Forum photo gathering?  If so, I may have been standing within a few feet of you...LOL!!
