It's #SwitcherSaturday time!!!!

Lots of us out there love switchers (shifters, docksiders, yard goats, critters, etc.), so lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

If you missed last week's SWSAT you should really go take a look, it was a ton of fun!

This week I'm posting something that my buddie Howard @sawdust43 sent me, a link to an article on the TCA e*train website that illustrates Lionel's Vulcan and Romulan switchers through the years. Thanks for sharing Howard!

My daughter has one of these in LionChief, it's a really cute little engine and set and she runs it quite often.  You can find these sets for really cheap these days, a great way to get kids started in the hobby!

I hope everyone has a nice weekend and if you get a chance - please post some switcher stuff here!

All the best...Rich Murnane

p.s. Miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday

Yay! SwSat is on!

I do like that little Purple Switcher Rich. I think I might get one for my Younger daughter who actually does like trains.  Here she is as I post this. image

I am going to post a couple of my K-Line plymouths including my Ford that is a Plymouth.IMG_4765IMG_4768

The MTH Vol 1 Catalog contains 2/3 of the all time roster of the Harlem Transfer Railroad. The Harlem Transfer IR #2 and the Lackawanna GE 44 tonner #53 make up over half of the all time roster. The only engine missing is the steam dummy Harlem Transfer #1. IMG_4760IMG_4761IMG_4762IMG_4764

In the bottom pic you can clearly see that the Lackawanna was painted over by the Harlem Transfer Co lettering although it did serve some time in Lackawanna paint.

Have a great weekend.

haven't been running any trains lately...been doing some needed household projects before winter shows up, but have picked up some train stuff along the way, including an orphan slope back to go with my recently purchased 1656. Have a great weekend guys.

SWSAT time, Bay-BEE!

Silverlake:

What a cute picture! She's really workin' that suff over!  Why, oh why, do I like the look of those box cab switchers???

As for me:

Staying with my beloved Frisco, and equally beloved Baldwin's... here's some more pics from back when things were "right" in Friscoland:

First up, a rare "overhead" shot of a "four stacker" illustrating the simplified scheme that started to be applied in the late 50's/early 60's up until the advent of the lurid Orange and White scheme...

And here's a pic of a Frisco VO wearing the same scheme FRESH out of the paint shop... I mean "still smells like paint" fresh!

Ah, the FRISCO... what a glorious line it was!

All fer now!  Y'all have a great weekend!

This is great. It looks very nice. What is the make? The British are making nice Photoetched kits these days but no body in the states seems to be.

I have just started a CLW Southern PS4 Pacific brass kit. Opening those boxes sure is daunting.

Made by Gilmaur.  IIRC, the Blunt trucks are adaptable to Weaver drive components.  Judging from the instructions date the kit is already 10 years old.  Until my soldering skills and equipment improve, I won't be attempting this one.  I'm practicing right now on an unknown brass GP7 shell.

Looks like fun.  We could go for a record.

An interesting day for me today: my Docksider has been living up to it's unreliable steam prototypes lately, and so I've been doing some maintenance on it. Did my first ever traction tire replacement which has made her run m much better. Now I've just got to save up and buy a replacement rear coupler, as the originals ca 2008 had terrible zinc pest... even the elctrocoupler pads on the bottom had started to crack!

My Also S2, having done most of the switching today, is resting next to the new team track in the West Yard on the Cleveland & Western.

My word! Such sad news, I remember going to the Steam Fest in 2004, and being on a doubled headed excursion in the late 1990s with Jerry's 4-6-2 & 4-6-0. To date his ex-GTW 4-8-4 is the largest locomotive I've ever been behind. You will be missed, Mr. Jacobson, RIP.

Montour railroad made the forum this week.  MTH was offering additional models.

Slideshow of a couple of Atlas SW9's custom painted Montour.

Montour trail/railroad still exist, west of Pittsburgh, PA. One of the better bike trails. IMO, Have a great weekend, Mike CT.

Note: Atlas supplied undecorated/unpainted models for this project.  The original models came with non-MUed pilots.  Atlas supplied the MUed pilot parts upon request.    Thank you Atlas.
