Team,
I have created my “new” final layout design with the help and input of many of you all so thank you. As an FYI, the NJ HiRailer also use a combo of manufacturers, I am looking to use only 1.
Now it’s time to go to track and switches. My last layout was a combo of Gargraves track with the plastic ties because I like the rigid form, I also used some Ross track as well. For switches, I used both but bought them used, has some issues. My yards were Atlas track as I got it from a friend that took his layout down.
A couple of questions, I watched Rich Battista’s videos and he used all MTH track and switches. Very impressed with the flexibility of that track and his custom sweeping curves.
1. Other than Rich, has anyone done a complete layout with MTH?
2. For switches, seems like Gargraves and Ross dominate forum members layouts, what’s the real difference other than price? That’s not to say Atlas and MTH are out of the race but I have not heard much about them.
3. For track, MTH, Gargraves, Atlas and Ross all market what I want and say their the best, Got it, now for real modelers, I need your honest accessment because I plan to use DCS and Legacy on the layout. I recall a debate / discussion where Clark Durham indicated on brand had better signal connectivity. Can I get some feedback? I like the look of of all of them and know Elliot used Atlas, saw his Munoz Lines and was impressed.
Just looking for some additional information on the use of the different manufacturers. I know a lot of this folks use things they like but I am looking for more of a technology reason for one over the other.
Thank you in advance for your help. If you want to send an email to me on your experience that works too.
