The 10-story (as-built) version of the Corrigan Station Walnut Street elevation. Only after getting the United States Postal Service as a tenant on the first floor of their originally designed speculative 5-story building to honor their father, Thomas Corrigan, did the Corrigan sisters alter the design to 10-stories. 

We designed the model based upon the original design drawings for this historic building in Kansas City. Look for a 3 bay by 3 bay building in about 10 days! You may order 5- or 10-story shadowbox versions of both Walnut and 19th Street from the website. There are a couple of 5-story versions ready to ship. The 10-story versions are in production along with the custom-ordered building. The other two elevations will also be available as shadowboxes.

Call the shop directly if you are interested in a building as they asre special order items. They are made with the Walnut Street elevation serving as the front, a little over 12” wide. The depth of the building can be about 4”, 8”, 12” or 16”, each depth a window bay along the 19th Street elevation.

We have developed our construction method to be able to create multiple heights of shadow boxes of original designs. The method has also led to multiple height variable depth buildings. The first building in our CityScape series, Cameron Apartments (CS0-01 in product ID lingo) is a good example. The original 5-story elevation is modeled after an urban townhouse project in Washington, DC. We have built the elevation in 1” deep shadowbox format in 5-, 6, 7- and 8- stories. A 6” deep building was released at the October York TCA meet in 5-, 6- and 7-stories. We are currently working on a 13-story variation custom order building.

The buildings can have a choice of stucco, brick or windowed parting (side) walls and are a special order. We do have several available that are ready to ship. You may call the shop to specify clear or translucent windows, and to confirm that the parting wall configuration conforms to your need. All buildings are lit individually by floor.

1” deep shadowboxes may be ordered off the website and you have the option of clear or translucent glazing. Lighting of shadowboxes is additional at the rate of $7 plus $3.00 per lit floor.

Going on the theme of variations of shadowboxes, we are able to produce offset versions for the Union Pacific Trackside Warehouse with either 1/2" or 1" depth changes per 12" long piece. The offset can be left-to-right or right-to-left. The idea is to create the additional illusion of depth changes on your layout. Here is a 3-piece set, offset 1/2" per section from left-to-right, that we produced in Lehigh University coloring. It is available for $175.00. We'll add LED lighting for an additional charge: $7 per 12" section plus $3.00 per LED with 36" wire lead.

Just like our regular 1" deep shadowboxes, the offset variation can be produced in 2-, 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-stories (with individual floors and ceilings), with or without the loading dock and your choice of clear or translucent glazing. As with all unlit shadowboxes, we will add LED lighting for an additional charge: $7 per 12" section plus $3.00 per LED with 36" wire lead.

Laser cut letters. We have them in various sizes and a couple of fonts. Each package has about 150 pieces in a distribution that is common usage in the English language. Use them for direct lettering of your project or as masking for non-raised letter signs.

This morning we added the D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Co. windows to the Laser Cut Window & Doors category in the Shop section of the website. Each window kit contains sashes and frames to make ten windows. There are three different windows used in the D.F. Stauffer models.

Here's one that was met with crickets!  An oldie but goodie that we developed from original design drawings. The PRR Standard Tool House was set up to be our first kit. Both the standing seam and clapboard siding versions were made. Complete with sliding windows on the end, interior stud and framing and scored flooring to represent the rock maple wood block floor. 1/4" = 1'-0" scale.  Any interest to reinvestigate?

That looks quite interesting. I could never build that, but that's just me. From spending way too much time on this forum, I can’t remember any pics of people having scooters that would require a “garage” like this, but if you were to add doors, and loose the tracks, I think it would be a nice addition to almost any layout.

Paul- We can build them out also, with or without 2- or 3-rail tracks. I had them at several TCA York shows and brought them all home. Based upon the lukewarm response to the UP Trackside Warehouse Shadowbox kit, I don't think that I will be doing any more kits. We also designed the front doors so that they slide like the rear windows. According to the design drawings, the side windows hinged at the bottom, inward. 

Here's a little bit of what we have to offer, the first time I have put it on a table all together.

Today is National Train Day and we will celebrate by offering free canopy additions to all Union Pacific Trackside Warehouse shadowbox orders placed today. The value is $15.00 per 12" shadowbox section. The offer is applicable for all options: 2-, 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-story versions in 12", 24", 36", 48" and 60" lengths. I cleaned up the website a bit and added the 5-story versions this morning.

We also now offer to light the trackside warehouse shadowboxes with 5050 LED's that come with 36" wire leads. The extra charge is $7.00 (for the slotted styrene tube) plus $3.00 per LED. Each ceiling of each windowed floor of the UP Trackside Warehouse has holes for two LED's.

If I understand the news correctly, the USPS is closed tomorrow, Wednesday (National Day of Mourning) - the report said there might be limited package DELIVERY. You may want to give them a call in the A.M. before you schlep everything over.

I bought some great Menards vehicles online and have received a Merchandise Credit Check in the amount of $22.85. It is valid only for in-store purchases and I live in New Jersey. I offer the Credit Check as a bonus to any purchase of over $100 from our store. Since I only have one Credit Check, please call the shop first to confirm that you are placing an order to qualify to receive it.

Lettering on the D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Co. building- here is how we do it- the first half of the process. Basically it is a 3-step process of using the laser to cut the masking. First for the red band, and second for the letters. A template is cut in the laser bed to match the elevation piece. Note the masking tape on the edges of the elevation. We do that to make up for the laser beam width so the piece to be recut fits exactly in the same place in the bed. This is how we get the red band to lineup on a brick course. The elevation is put in the laser with the masking and the red band is cut. It is then painted and let to dry. The masking is removed and a fresh piece is put on. The next step is to cut the letters. That is the last picture in this group. The next step for us is to paint the letters white.

D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Co. lettering to completion. Peal of the used masking from the letters and remask. Put back in the laser and cut the masking around the letters and inner line of the red brick band. Peal and paint black background. Peal masking and Viola!

Hey Doug....did this get shipped as promised? It has not arrived as of last evening. I understand the PO was closed last Wednesday but a (3) day shipped would have been delivered yesterday.

They look great but how long does it take to deliver on an order.  

So we're catching up from the custom orders and the learning curve of the time it takes to go from shadowbox standard production to custom pieces. Plus some design refinements to the overall shadowbox and building assembly along the way and we're back on track.

Here's one of those projects: a UP 3-Story Trackside Warehouse shadowbox set that was modified in depth and shadowbox to cover an existing wall condition.

Original UP Trackside Warehouse sections were used trackside with the additional canopy on the four of the five sections to the right. The plain warehouse version was used to cover the left side. A section modified to have truck loading bays was used to make the connection. Before and after pictures. Thank you Ben and all!!!

I have been talking Brownstones for a while and they have been in development since mid-2018. After conversations with several customers, we have finalized the design for our first offering of Brownstones. Originally we were planning to make one structure that was going to contain a total of five units and measure about 24" long. Now each unit will be separate. There will be five unit types. Three of those five unit types will have two variations, door on the left or door on the right. Two unit types will have the door in the middle and have a variation of either full block or a combination of brick and block.

In addition to the ten possible combinations of facades, they will be available in 3-, 4- and 5-story heights. Here is the laser cut front elevations for the C unit with the door on the right or left, in 3-, 4- and 5-stories.

Lastly, it is our intention to paint them in three different color schemes. Details will include decorative cornices, cast stairs with laser cut decorative handrails, and decorative window headers and sills. We may consider stair variations. Painting of the C unit prototypes will begin tomorrow.

There are 10 different units x 3 heights x 3 color schemes = 60 variations. We will take orders for unit types, heights and color schemes during the month of January. Please contact us directly to discuss your interests.

Per usual, shadowboxes will have individual floors and ceilings with the provision for installation of 5050 LED lighting. Our flat fee for installing lighting in a shadowbox is $7.00 (for the slotted styrene tube that conceals the wires) plus $3.00 per LED (with 36" wire lead). You will be able to specify clear or translucent glazing.

We make Rooftop Building Billboard Signs (RBBS) in several different letter heights, 5/8", 3/4" and 1". Here are a few that have been made and maintain in rotating inventory.

The first item available in this format is a 4-piece set of our original Union Pacific 2-Story Trackside Warehouse shadowbox. It was custom-made for a customer who then decided that three stories were better than two for his application. To this end, the shadowbox is 1-3/4" deep instead of our standard 1". There was also a "notch" designed in the back to accommodate an existing condition on the back wall of the layout. LED's are not installed in any of the four pieces and the normal provision that we provide is not included. The optional overhead canopy has been added.

The price for the 4-piece set is $225.00 for local or show pickup. Add the $10.00 carton fee plus exact USPS Priority service charge for shipping to you.
