Tank Train Question

Ok so what I am trying to find out is what time frame these cars actually ran on the roads.

So I have many of these and what I believe is this is the original scheme that started in the 1970's

But what I would like to know is how long did this scheme last before it was repainted into another scheme?

I also bought several of these. But I have no idea if this was a real paint scheme or a make believe. They was cataloged with the Norfolk Southern Set so were they only used on the Norfolk Southern? I of course do not have the end units for this scheme because I did not buy the NS boxed set. I had planed on mixing the sets but I was told that they did not mix paint schemes. So that puts me in a pickle with these 6 cars. However is there a time frame on this scheme as well?

Thought about buying the simplified GATX Tank Train scheme end units in the new catalog but I guess that would be a fashion fopaux.

Well the Orange/White scheme was 1970's to 1980's.

White was late 1980's to 1990's also

the Small logo[ which is pictured in the catalog now as 1990's to mid 2000. Any TankTrain with conspicuity striping [ the vertical yellow stripes] started in 2005. The White TankTrain with Black lettering was 2000+

Thanks for that bit of info!

That confirmed for me the new CN offerings can't be a perfect match for the original set from 2002.

(I might still consider one or 2, but I most likely won't try to go for all of them.)

Yes and my era ends with Conrail in 1998 so the black GATX small logo with conspicuity striping is out former too. Adding up the msrp each set is about $700.

Oh and further research shows the loading and unloading of these cars can be 8-13 at a time with the last car only 1/3 full as the nitrogen gas takes up the remaining volume of the last tank... Hence a good reason why Lionel only issues them 8 cars at a time.
