I recently acquired the Lionel 2015 "A Joyful Christmas" music boxcar 6-82713
It's a nice car but admittedly the music can be annoyingly loud after awhile. It is powered by a nine volt battery with an on/off switch which is inconveniently mounted on the middle underside of the car which makes it necessary to uncouple the car from the train it's running with, then remove it from the track every time you want to start or stop the music and then replace it on the track and recouple it, Why Lionel chose to place the on/off switch in such an inaccessible location stymies me.
My questions are:
Is there a simple way to add a volume control to these music boxcars?
Is there a way to add remote control on/off to these music boxcars? (Does ERR have a module which would allow tmcc control of these music boxcars? If so, would it have to run off track power instead of the 9 volt battery it currently uses and would the doubled voltage of 18 volt track power vs. the 9 volt battery power damage it in any way?
