This story broke about a week ago after the last Bakken oil train derailment.

Local tv station did an investigation about the crumbling railroad bridges in Milwaukee. They are looking at it as what would happen if a Bakken oil train derailed in downtown!

This bridge in my hometown(Video in link) keeps coming up in the news with similar concerns. This is the NYC/West Shore bridge over Main Street, formerly double tracked, just east of the Erie Canal as you go towards Fairport.

The NYC Auburn Road passed under this same track between this bridge and the canal, the Main St. crossings(Auburn Road at grade) were about 100 yards apart.

Aggggging infrastructure everywhere.  The CSX bridge over the Ohio River Beaver PA. to Monaca is over 100 years.  Elimination of tunnels seems to be a primary concern.

NS through downtown Pittsbugh, PA  next to the convention center.  Note the bridge piers, this bridge has been raised to accommodate river traffic.  There are more bridges in Pittsburgh than any other city in the US.  This bridge is a double deck bridge, at one time, trolley lines were on the lower level.

Convention Center, UPMC is the US Steel Building.   The small ornate building, hidden, is the Gulf (Oil) building. Major lighting upgrade to this building and it's skyline façade.

Off the river, the tracks take the other 1/2 of an S turn before heading up stream along the Allegheny river.  Deck girder bridge is an extension of the river bridge.

CBS, 60 minutes, had done a segment on crumbling infrastructure that focused on Pittsburgh.
