MTH PS-1 isn't command, BTW. But I have several, and they still all work. Oldest is from '96, the RailKing Dreyfuss Hudson. Still runs like a champ. But I'm slowing converting to all command, so by the end of next year it'll have ERR TMCC electronics in it.
Some comments in this thread piqued my interest in TMCC history, so I checked and determined the first Lionel "Trainmaster Command Equipped" engines appeared in the 1995 catalog. They included:
- 6-18042 Boston & Albany Hudson 4-6-4
- 6-18043 Chesapeake & Ohio Semi-scale Streamline Hudson
6-18221 Denver & Rio Grande SD-50
Also presented in the 1995 catalog were 10 locomotives designated as "Remote ready (compatible with the Lionel TrainMaster System)", which presumably means they lacked the "Liontech E-unit" factory-installed in the "Trainmaster Command Equipped" locomotives. These were:
- 6-18639 Reading 4-6-2
- 6-18040 Norfolk and Western “J”
- 6-18934 Reading FA-2 Alco A-A
- 6-18838 Seaboard RSC-3 Diesel
- 6-18840 U.S. Army GP-7
- 6-18837 Christmas RS-3 Diesel
- 6-18832 Pennsylvania RSD-4
- 6-18514 Missouri Pacific GP-7
- 6-18219/20 Chicago & North Western Dash 8-40C
- 6-18223/24 Milwaukee Road SD-40
Does that sound right?
What, me worry?
Amazing and refreshing to see how many of the early TMCC locos are still running!
