Always loved the Lionel B&O EM-1 2-8-8-4 with TMCC/RS4, but never liked the sounds or the jerky original Odyssey.  Sent it off to Mike Reagan recently for upgrades, and he installed a new cruise control board, new sound board, a Super-Chuffer (4 chuffs per revolution), and repacked the smoke generator.

Results are spectacular!  Now the operation is smooth as silk, the sounds are haunting, and the smoke will drive you out of the room.  Thanks, Mike!

Very nice Will. Good looking engine.

Hope that you and George are doing well. Need to get over your way soon.

Thanks, Bill, I am fine.

George Lasley, however, lost his wonderful wife of 35 years, Jane, on Tuesday night.  Jane and George have been dear friends, and Jane's death is a shock, though not unexpected.  I took George to breakfast this morning, and he is doing pretty well, considering.  If you have a minute to drop him a note, his email is glasley@bellsouth.net.  As you would expect, George and Jane were very close.

Come by any time to visit.

Best regards,

Did you upgrade to legacy sounds or railsounds 5.0?

Mike,

For technical reasons that Mike can explain better than I, this engine could only be upgraded to improved RS4 sounds, not to RS5.  Mike and I conferred on which board to use, and the new one is much improved to my ears: no crackle as in the original sound board.
