RE: The new 2014 Tinplate catalog.
Other than the subway and monorail -- not everyone's cup of tea -- this is another warmed over effort with lots of repeats and/or repaints of previously issued items.

Really surprised not see any American Flyer. I'm probably in for the 400e National Limited set, couple of the LIRR 200 series car.

I think like many other catalogs in the past they are probably going to see if there is enough interest. Which may very well determine if it ever makes it off the drawing board and into production!
My thoughts exactly. It will be interesting to see if this ever gets made.

That is a beautiful set!

I wonder if an O gauge tinplate version would sell better? If that was made I would be in; Or offer the standard gauge set as a 3 car set for less money as someone else mentioned already.

THANKS for the subway car dimensions - I missed those at first look!
I'm in for the monorail and at least one of the Ives water towers.
Anybody know what the deal was with the monorail displayed at MTH's booth today? It wasn't labeled, complete, or lettered "Lionel Lines". I didn't want to fight the crowds to ask about it.
Personally, I'd rather have one of the original colors, but this will do.
Wonder if they'll offer additional track and risers for the monorail like they did in the past. No listing in the catalog for these. Also, wonder how long it would be until it is released? (2 years? )
I see Sidetrack Hobbies had one of the new blue Dorfan engines with matching cars running on their display.
I agree, especially since it was not a Lionel product. They did offer it in the original color in 2005.
Today at York Dave Hikel told me a new Tinplate Traditions catalog will be out in the next couple of months. He said more traditional colors of the monorail will be offered. The catalog will include non Lionel licensed products. I did not ask what else.
wow..shut the front doooooooooor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! things are looking up in tinplate land!!!!!!

That is some interesting news! I may just sit back on this one and see what there is to offer.
Great News about the Tinplate Traditions catalog. I will wait and order the monorail in a more traditional color.
Yes. That is interesting! The Lionel Celebration Series monorail was a definite for me, but now not so sure!
I'd be in for one of these...
Thank goodness for the 2nd catalog because now I will probably order a monorail along with the standard gauge Royal Blue lines 400e and the brown 400e.

I spoke with Andy Edleman (hope I spelled his name correctly), about the monorail. He mentioned that the Tinplate Traditions catalogue will have it available in 3 different road names. MTH didn’t need to, or wish to, pay Lionel royalties for non-Lionel products, hence the new Tinplate Traditions catalogue. I don’t know when that catalogue will be available, but I got the impression that it will not be that long in coming.
NEW MTH "Tinplate Traditions" catalog: COOL BEANS!

I found a 2660 series crane and #98 coal bunker. Makes me happy.
The coal loader is the manual version. The 97 has the conveyor belt and works automatically. I do not remember who made it in the 90s MTH or Lionel.

I had hoped for some Flyer. Specifically the Shasta 4637 freight set and a litho AmFlyer Prez special. MTH, if you're reading this, don't do both in the same year, my wallet couldn't handle both.
