Was I really hearing this correctly.  One of the Members of the Cincinnati Council has proposed eliminating the cash fare on our beloved streetcar and making a free ride like they do in Kansas City which is our sister trolley car system running 4 CAF Streetcars.  The streetcar in Kansas City was free from the get go and they passed there Millionth Rider much faster than Cincinnati, Ohio.  Kansas City needs several more streetcars to handle the business and is planning to expand there system.  This "free ride" would be a great boon to the Cincinnati Bell Connector Streetcar that might get some of the Council members to vote to build the extension of the Connector to the University of Cincinnati, Ohio.  Will keep you informed....sincerely   railbear601

Rattler21 --  Have you been to Cincinnati to ride those CAF Streetcars?  Heck, if you do not hold on, you can be thrown to the floor very easily.  Running the streetcar up the Vine Street Hill back in the day when Cincinnati, Ohio had tons of Cincinnati Car Company Streetcars was a cinch.  When the New Bell Connector leaves the Cyclone Station Stop #1 and heads up the hill from 3rd to 4th street via Main Street, it has absolutely no  trouble pulling that hill. These CAF Streetcars have 4 squirrel cage AC motors with a tremendous amount of torque. If they get that line built up Vine Street, it will be a shoe in, just like back in the good ole days....Go to the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in Washington, PA and ride an original Cincinnati Street Railway deck roof streetcar, the only one in existence.   On June 1st, the PA Trolley Museum is dedicating an original West Penn Curve Sider Streetcar/Interurban built by the Cincinnati Car Company back in the l920's.  It has been in rehab for the past 20 years.  PA Trolley Museum will then have 2 operational Cincinnati Car Company Products.  Miracles never cease to stop happening.  I love the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in Washington, Pennsylvania (South of Pittsburgh).   Take Care John -- sincerely yours,  railbear601
