I've been workin' on the farm lately. Painted the barn, moved cows, found a $10 silo, and bought a new chopper. The chopper is a 950; I run a 960. Close enough. I'm gonna need a lotta corn stalks. That's me in front in the prototype.Barn 2BarnChopper 2Mulligans Choppin_Moment

Someone has a corn technique. Like a bunch of cut down wooden stiff bristle brushes , sprayed with glue and a leaving like scenic material tossed in. Shake off the loose stuff when dry.

Anyway, there's technique out there somewhere.

here's one - paint the bristles green

and another and cornstalks

Nice scene! You are the prototype! Is your machine GPS guided?

STE, Gary,

I really liked the pictures of your farm on your layout.  Specifically I am impressed by the placement of the railroad  passing behind the scene instead of in front  of it. In your case it seems like a practical matter since the layout is against the wall, but I think we can all take a que from the image that you have created.  I, like many of us, like to show off the trains by placing the tracks on the outside edge, but in the real world they pass through or behind the scenes we experience in our daily lives.  You have inspired me to pay more attention to the scenes and landscaping in the foreground of my layout. Thanks for sharing.

Earl

Fantastic barn and farm scene John H!!  Jackiejr - your farm scene is awesome!!  Here are a few shots of my farm ... quite small but yet effective for my layout.  It was important to me to include a farm scene on my layout.  I used a French stable, used for WW2  military modeling, as my barn.  All other stock barns were way too big for my farm area.  IMG_9241IMG_9238IMG_9272IMG_9282

That is so precise that it doesn't look real.  I used to pick and shuck the corn in my grand parent's back field when I was about 10 years old.  My grandmother would get the pot boiling while I got the corn.  Corn tastes the best fresh from the field.  My grandfather never had his rows of corn so straight.  Both the real field and the modeling are impressive.  NH Joe
