I just received the last AB set of NYC "Beauty Queen" E-7's from Sunset Models and wanted to post a quick story about how I ended up with them and a video of them running on my layout...

Last spring, I had ordered an ABBA set of Santa Fe F7's from Sunset Models/3rd rail to go with my Golden Gate Depot El Capitan set. I had some issues getting my payment together when they arrived in the fall and Scott was kind enough to hold them for me until I could get everything squared away. Some time passed and I was able to get everything figured out and send payment for my Santa Fe F-7's. When Sunset/3rd Rail was preparing my order for shipment, they realized that one of the B units had been misplaced. They looked all over but were unable to come up with it. I spoke with Shani on the phone and she apologized for what had happened and offered me a refund for the missing B unit. I thought about it for a second and then came up with a plan of my own.

Being a HUGE fan of everything NYC, I had been eyeing both AB sets of NYC E-7's ('48 paint scheme and Beauty Queen paint scheme) on the Diesel Super Sale page of Sunset's website for many months but had figured by the time I would get around to ordering them, they would be gone. This was my chance. I asked Shani if it was possible, that in place of the missing F-7 B unit, Sunset compensate me with either of the NYC E-7 AB sets. I knew that it was a bit of a stretch on my end as the F-7 B unit had a value of $600 and the E-7 AB set had a value of $850, but I hoped for the best. Shani set an AB set aside for me and said she would check with Scott over the weekend. The following Monday, I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from Shani informing me that Scott had approved the plan and that I would be receiving the last AB set of NYC E-7 "Beauty Queens".

After refreshing the UPS tracking information all week long as they made there way to St. Louis, they finally arrived on my doorstep this afternoon. I had spent the past week reading up on the history of the "Beauty Queen" paint scheme and was very excited to finally be able to see them in person. They are absolutely gorgeous and I am very happy with how everything turned out. I made a short video for everyone to enjoy as there were not any videos of them on youtube.

Finally, I would like to say thank you to Scott and Shani of Sunset models for there first class customer service. You can count on many future orders from me.

Here is a video of them running on my layout. You can look at my channel and find many other videos of Sunset/3rd rail and Golden Gate Depot's past offerings.

They look just like the Williams E-7's - NOT!

Really gorgeous; I have 2 favorite roads, and this is one of them (I have that 3rd Rail J-3a, too). The early "light/dark" scheme is seen so seldom.

But you blew the horn (I do like the "blat" on my Lionel Niagara, too) so much, I couldn't hear the prime mover sound very well.
