....will be announced at the Nuernberg Toy Fair in February, according to 'an exceptionally well informed source' posting on a French forum. It will
- have an SNCF prototype
- be a model that had been announced by other makers
- have a target price of 450 euros
- is not an express passenger loco.
Note: All of the above is based on my poor [ mauvais ] understanding of French; and the following is pure conjecture:
We 'know' that MTH is planning a start set using the 24" radius [ 2 rail ] track in the catalogue; Mike has said so. It seems likely that Busch would be the driving force for this, which would suggest a Germanic prototype, as I do not think the French market [ including those outside France who model French prototype of course ] could economically support a model unique to France; this suggests a German loco that found its way to other countries. And since the price would suggest a tank loco, I'm sort of at a loss to suggest what it might be, especially in view of the 'other makers'. My 'best guess' is the German 91.3 class 2-6-0T, numerous examples of which came to France after 1918; I think the PLM had some......
Best regards, SZ
But it could be a model unique to France; how else to solve the 1/43.5 vs 1/45 dilemma....
