funny rich, we would rather see the 765
765 will be in this exact same spot. Some time this summer.
Now that's some exciting news!
is that this loco?
"NKP 358, SD9m diesel locomotive"
No, that is an almost-new GE, one of the Norfolk Southern Heritage Units.

Please keep us informed.

I was just about to suggest one other NKP engine I'd like to see on the curve, and then you spring this on us. I can't wait!

A wish come true!!!!!!!!
Any chance of a cab ride, Rich? (I know, I'm dreaming here, but can you blame me for trying? )
Seriously, awesome news!

Good shot. But that roadbed looks so clean and neat the NKP looks like its on Fastrack.
Sure its not photoshopped?

Thanks Rich.

Can you narrow that down to a specific day as the date approaches?

Yes Rich, please do... thats a road trip worthy event in my book.
Great news on the Berk!
That roadbed is about ready to turn Model Railroad-like.

Looks just like Lionel FasTrack with a gray/brown wash applied.
When you run 80+ trains a day over your railroad, the roadbed had better be in good shape!
And with those new sections of welded rail laying there, they are soon going to be replacing some rail on all the curve. The outside rails on the curve see a LOT of wear.
This also would appear to answer the question asked by a number of people as to whether NS would try to keep these heritage units in their "home" territories. (Not!)
I had about convinced myself I did not need one more video of NS in central Pennsylvania but, with these heritage units running on the former PRR mainline, I guess I'll have to bring the video camera again this summer when we head north to Lewistown to visit relatives.
Rich, please tell me you will have the 765 running between Harrisburg and Altoona the first week in July.

Great photo, and sure to be a great event this summer.

Maybe the second week? Or what about the week before the first week?
One dream shot would be a side by side this unit with the 765, or it being utilized as a backup road engine for your upcoming trip. It would make for some nice publicity for the Heritage program...I know....dream on.
It will be the second Tuesday in the 6th week of September...around 14 o'clock.

Heading to Fall Y*rk perhaps for a meeting w/ C&O#614?
No, that will happen on the 7th Thursday in October, which is after York.
If I didn't know otherwise, I'd say some of you Dudes were trying to confuse me!

Here's hoping I'll be qualified to Altoona by then. Either way, I hope to be onboard.

I apologize.
On the other hand the thinning trees and the fall colors would do well for a number of places to shoot the engine.
Regarding MOW, the UP is constantly picking at the old MP Main and it's ok compared to the neat manicured work of art up in Horseshoe. The last time I was there, I recall a sound of thunder as steel on steel for a train fighting it's way east round there.
Any ideas on what they will put on the Berk for the Horseshoe? (And no diesels playing flying Dutchmen allowed.)
