As noted in the post from Nassau Hobbies, the 2014 Lionel Catalog is slated for release on Monday morning. When the catalog goes live, and the same time we will have a special episode of Notch 6 that goes online with Lionel's Matt Ashba. This 40 minute special will review all the new products introduced in this catalog, along with details that will not be found in the catalog. My suggestion is that you open two tabs in your browser and listen to the show while you browse the new catalog. We're excited to share with you about the new catalog, and hope you'll listen along on Monday when the catalog is released. You can listen to the show here when it's released: The Notch 6 Podcast

Can't wait!
Thanks Derek. Looking forward to it.

We always have fun! One of the highlights of the show is a new feature that Lionel is introducing for their trains that have the Chicago Cubs involved.......
Does it involve a goat?
Does it involve a goat?
Oh I like that.....operating goat boxcar with goat sounds and a bottle of JT's mega steam goat scented smoke. Maybe a Bartman ball mint car, or how about a nice car with the slogan "What Are You Going to Do, Root for the White Sox?" Oh the possibilities are endless.
Sounds like a good idea Derek.
Although I can't or won't be able listen real time, I will have to catch up in the evening with the interview.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

Of course I did Ben! After your nice email at fall York, I have an entire section at the end of the show dedicated to Flyer. I promise you guys will not be left out of any major catalog or event show that we produce.
Awesome! Thanks
Ben
Derek,
It was a pleasure talking with you today. For only being 29 years old you have the right attitude to be an asset to the hobby of collecting trains.
Thanks
Your new friend
Pat

Do you discuss how much input Mike had for the catalog? I'd really like to hear what changes and approach was his. Maybe even if in a different Pod Cast.
You making it to York?
Pat- The pleasure was all mine. It was great talking to you as well and I really appreciate the compliment. Attitude is everything, we need more positive folks in this hobby!
Joe- So good to hear from you! It was also great to talk with you a few weeks back. I really think you'll enjoy the next few episodes we have coming. Just had an hour an a half conversation with Richard Maddox former President of Lionel last night. Oh the insight he has to share!
Marty- Did not get to talk with Mike about the actual input process of the catalog, but I can tell you that he and the rest of the team have worked incredibly hard. A few weeks back Mike was pulling 14 hour days. We might bring that up this summer, pretty sure he'll be back during our coverage of the LCCA convention in July.
And finally to the York question, no I'm sitting this one out. We have a new addition to the family due at the end of April and the last thing I want is a phone call saying you need to get back to Indiana NOW. Family comes first on this one. I'll be there in the fall though and Madison Poster / Notch 6 will have a booth. Can't wait to see everyone then!
I will be watching too! Great Job Derek!
Derek, you're gonna make me listen.

Is Dick going to be a guest on a podcast? That would be terrific.
Very innovative Derek, I will give it a go.
We are so proud to have Derek as one of the OGR team. When I met him at the Lionel Service Center open house event last fall, I knew that we had to bring him aboard.... As most of you know, he also runs our Facebook page. You should take a peak as he is doing a fine job there and we will be having some contests with give aways there soon.
Derek...keep up the wonderful work you are doing!
Alan
I got my Popcorn ready!
I'm excited and I already know whats in the catalogs! Great Job Derek!

Yes, Dick will be on the show that I plan to release towards the end of the month. We might break it into two shows since there is so much information. We cover his entire 53 year career in hobby. This is by far one of my favorite interviews so far. You'll hear it in the show, but there are just places where I am speechless. I know that there is information here that has never been shared before, and I think many people will look at the events going on at Lionel around 2001-2002 in a whole new light.
I hope you guys enjoy the 2014 Catalog show, you'll get some nice details that you won't find in the catalog and I tried to ask the questions that I thought you all would ask. About 27 minutes til show time....
Have you ever thought of doing a "phone in Friday" type of show? Where you would announce the guest before the interview and solicit questions via email from listeners.
I realize that could be quite a task and you'd have to weed through the questions but it was a thought.
