The perfect Train set

"wondered what the perfect train set would be like"

For me, a bit sentimental, my first Lionel train set is perfect in my eyes.

The UP Steam program (844, 3985, 4014, 6936, E-units, Tenders and Passenger Cars) UP has around 68 passenfer cars. I say the whole set up with Lionel’s legacy and Fastrak. Total would be roughly 75K to 80k.

I don't know how it would be accepted today, but remember going into Walts Hobby Shop back in my home town and seeing inside his shop 2 pallets full of the Lone Ranger Train set. I asked if he had a special sale on these? He said actually since the beginning of the month he had already sold over 55 sets.

Then in the 90s when I moved to Florida and decided to check out a local Hobby Shop, I saw he had several on display against the wall and asked if they were still selling? He said he sells about 1 a month and better then any of the other sets he had. He also said that from when first issued, he has never had to mark a set down, or have a sale on them.

I never bought one, but always felt that set, during the period introduce many kids and fathers to trains.
