I really learned a lesson yesterday. I have an Ives Standard gauge 3236, a later one with a stamped frame, same shell as a Lionerl #8. It wouldn't run right and made a lot of gear noise. I had greased it but to no avail. I had considered having the motor worked on, swapping a Lionel motor from a #8 in to it but just let it sit. Finally yesterday I decided to seriously look in to putting a Lionel motor in it. Then in a flash of brilliance I put a drop of oil on the bearing of the motor shaft because it looked dry. BINGO !!  The thing just glides around the track !! Lesson learned. Made my day.
