Tonight I watched a 1963 re-run of The Untouchable episode "Elegy". What caught my attention was the opening scene of two Lionel standard gauge(?) steamer and electric locomotive trains. What I could see was a station and some figures in background. Being film the images were blurred so could not make out engine numbers. The steamer did whistle so that would place story in late 1930 era as I recall whistles appeared in some form around 1936 or so. I cringed when the electric derails on curve and steamer plows into electric. Ouch. Almost as bad as the WWII ad of little boy putting his rare Lionel engine into metal drive barrel. Ouch.
Trains never re-appeared and had nothing to do with story plot.
Credits didn't show "trains courtesy of Madison Hardware or Lionel Corporation" for instance.
Just fun to see those old trains a'rollin.
