In New England we lost an icon that has been around for years.  The Hilltop steak house restaurant which closed it's doors for the last time Sunday night.  For folks in this neck of the woods it was an iconic place that a lot of people will miss. I have had plenty of great meals and memories of the Hill top and would love to see this sign made by Miller engineering.

That would be a cool sign for someone to make!

That's right Mike I remember that and the fillet minion!   Yum!      "Sue city table for six"

We went to the Hilltop for one last feast about a week ago. It was a two hour wait. A friend of mine went this past week and it was a four hour wait. Amazing. I was talking with one of the host while waiting. The cactus sign is registered as a national landmark and will be saved. The cattle out front are up for sale at $3000.00 each.
Chris I dont know but I would not mind having the little grey calf. Another note was the looting that was taking place during the last few days. Patrons were caught taking menus and other furnishings from the dining rooms. Our waitress was kind enough to give us a few placemats as a souvenir.

This when they offer several other beer brand signs.  Said the owners of the brand

didn't want to badly influence us children.  I'll have to find photos of signs for some

other, defunct, brand of Colorado beer,

Not sure what that has to do with the Hill top? I'll bet licensing may not be a big problem for the Hill top sign.

I'll miss the Hilltop Steakhouse too.  I drove past the Hilltop last week and the parking lot was packed.

Back in the 1990's I was working for an insurance company and we were asked to quote on the property insurance.  I had the opportunity to survey it and I have a couple of things to pass on as a result.  Occasionally pranksters, like MIT students, would steal cows so the Hilltop would have new ones made from molds they stored in the basement.  Also, I think they were defering maintenance because when I went on the roof I stepped in a huge grease accumulation from the deep fat fryers.  It was pretty deep and went over my shoe.
