What does everyone think about the new J3a Hudson set offered from Lionel, is it a must have set? Is the road number used in the set an actual number the NYC used for that train? What are your thoughts on the new 21" passenger cars Lionel is also offering?

My thoughts? Guess it was a good thing I offloaded my older Lionel ESE Hudson and K-Line 21" cars. If Lionel starts mass producing these types of sets, it's the beginning of the end for the inflated values on 21" cars...
I have pics of at least one of the Empire Express hudson on the B&A after the war, so I was temped to order one. Now I'm in a wait and see when they come out
The set seemed to catch everyone's attention when the 2015 Signature Catalog was unveiled about a week ago. Dealers were calling this the "must have" hot item in the catalog. Seemed to be the apple in everyone's eye, but now we're hearing news that the 21" passenger cars will be delivered w/o passengers. Really??? Scale passenger cars with detailed interiors but no passengers? In 2015, no less??? Now some folks are understandably thinking twice about it. 
Ah yes... the devil is always in the details so it seems.
