MUEagle- I am awaiting the return of my 261 should be here later today from Lionel repair it was awesome while it lasted before the crackle pop!

careful on adding smoke fluid they changed the hole or at least it was last time I saw it!!

it wasn't centered on mine was angled off to the left as you face it from the front also I hear Lionels premium smoke fluid works better in it.

Enjoy your copy and thanks for your lobbying efforts to get this engine produced. so nice to see other road names besides the always same old same old.

A suggestion is to turn off the steam chest smoke, (Aux smoke) until you have given the fluid time to saturate the smoke chamber first, and then seep over to the other smoke chamber. I waited a weeks worth of running before I did it and now no problems with the resistor running on a dry chamber.
Add a full eye dropper of fluid the first time and I did mine the night before to let the wicking soak it up. If it does not smoke fantastic the wicking has already soaked up most of the 1st fluid so put it more. On high this baby really can smoke up a storm but will start to disapate after about 3 to 4 minutes and it is time to add more. It will work best if you find the smoke hole to the chamber instead of just shooting it in at the top. The hole is slighty offside of center on the firemans side and the tip of your eyedropper should go right in it.
Dave: You're gonna love it! I got mine (#265) several weeks ago, and haven't stopped running it since. By any means possible, you've got to get a Legacy system: The engine sounds OK and performs OK on regular TMCC but that WHISTLE is amazing when operated by the Legacy lever. You will become a true "whistle artist" when you have that sound to play with!

from another thread install the 9 volt battery as this engines sound system is finicky to power loss unlike other legacy engines that only have a momentary loss of sounds!

this one has to be reset using the R button on cab-2 remote.

it is sweet and let smoke unit stay off after filling for 12 hrs or more and add at least 3 i droppers of fluid in that time frame to really get bating soaked about 3\4" of fluid each time mine smokes up a storm now.

One thing I've noticed with mine is that this smoke unit actually seems to like Lionel's higher viscosity fluid instead of a lower viscosity fluid such as MTH's or Mega-Steam.
Be sure you look down the stack when adding fluid and get the funnel into the off-set chambers entrance which is biased to the left-of-center.

I had it mostly paid off...but my other bills come first. That's why I'm a month late to it. Plus I also left the DC area to visit family in California. I just got back and was able to pick it up.
