I run my Legacy engines using the legacy controller.
I run my Lion Chief Plus (pre-Bluetooth) engines with the Universal LC/LC + Controller.

1. Like with Legacy engines, can I have a Lion Chief Plus 2.0 (LC2) engine sitting on a powered section of track in a "shut down" mode such that lights, sounds and smoke are all off until I start it up with the Legacy controller?

2. I understand LC2 engines have a better soundset than their Lion Chief Plus counterparts. As an example, in a YouTube video I heard an LC2 F3 engine that even has the Legacy type creaking noise while moving. Do any other LC2 engines offer the creaking sounds?

3. I notice my Legacy engines can run smoothly at very slow speeds (compared to Lion Chief Plus that is). Do LC2 engines offer such an improvement in slow speed capability?

The reason I ask is that I'm contemplating pre-ordering the LC2 Hudson even though I already own a Lion Chief Plus (pre-Bluetooth) version...

I have the LC+2.0 0-6-0 Docksider, but I've only run it a little bit.

Yes, you can have the loco "shutdown" while the track is powered up.

This is my 3rd 0-6-0.  I have the original release and the LC version as well.  It appears the sound set in the LC+2.0 is the same or very similar to the LC version, but does offer the multiple whistle/bell pitch option.

I'm not seeing a huge difference in low speed performance from my original one (which is decent at low speeds), with the cavate that I have done the side rod upgrade that the LC+2.0 0-6-0 needs.  I haven't seen reports of the Hudsons needing it, but now that I know of the issue, I realized another LC loco (the British one based on the Hogwarts loco) I picked up from a warehouse sale has the same problem of oversized holes in the side rods creating a binding issue at low speeds.

I have the LC2.0+ 0-6-0 and I've run my friend's ES44AC (or the EMD version, all modern locos look the same to me).  You can have them parked and dark on a Legacy system layout (actually it runs in TMCC mode for the 0-6-0) or in Bluetooth mode if you don't connect the app to the loco.  Bluetooth mode is nice because you can set the max speed and volume, which is useful if you have little ones running it.

The sounds on the 0-6-0 blew me away.  Not only quite good for its tiny speaker when at less than full volume, but it has a ton of phrases programmed for CabChatter/TowerCom.  They're random, so you might hear the same one three times in a row, but that's forgivable.

Slow speeds are good, maybe not quite as good as a full-fledged loco with Legacy or PS2/3, but 3-4 SMPH I'd guess.  The Docksider sometimes loses power on turnouts at those slow speed due to the short wheelbase, but I doubt the Hudson would have that issue.
