TIE DOWN for flat car with trailer

Any tiedown would be under the trailer, FWIW.

 

There are multiple ways of bolstering them down with chains. Look on the internet for ideas. I like these for example.

 

 

More functional than prototypical, but I've found zip ties solve the problem adequately, provided your flatcar has a few holes to slip them through. Have used thin black wire as well--just about invisible.

I found a good way to make tie downs. Get model ship chain, reasonably fine stuff. Then attach the ends where they're going to be touching the floor of the car, then connect a black rubber band to those ends, drill a hole that size through the floor where it'll work, and tie if off under the car. If you space it just right, you'll see chain in tension and you'll be able to remove them to remove the item if needed.

cheap necklaces can look like chains after  they're weathered.

Model ship chain or jewelry chain works great... or if you want to go for cables and have some old phone cord laying around, rip it apart and use a felt pen on them.

 

Instant cable. Works great for tying down heavy equipment too.

You can get stretchy silver thread at craft shops. Looks like braided steel cable, especially after coating with Dullcote.
