I have REV I.  The older model with serial port.   I use external power source to power it.  Variable Outputs 1 and 2 no longer functional… meaning there is no power going to the track.  Fixed Outputs 1 & 2 do provide power to the track but I get a "No active DCS Engines" message on my remote.  My MTH engines work fine under conventional power.  I tried to reset the TIU from the remote, but does not do anything.  Any ideas from anyone of what failed on my TIU?

I assuming since this is older model that it would be better to replace it rather than trying to get it fixed.

Tether the TIU's Remote Input port to the use of the remote with a 4-conductor telephone handset cable (the curly kind) and see if things improve. If they do, we can proceed from there.

OK, that'

That's great news!

Now, you need to reseat  the transceiver boards in the TIU and the remote. Once you do that, you should be able to run normally without the cable. Detailed instructions for doing so are on pages 160-162 of The DCS Companion 3rd Edition.

I'm leaving for vacation in a few minutes and the section is too long for me to post at this time. However, if you don't have a copy of the book, post that here and I'll copy the text onto this thread later this evening.

Gentlemen,

This is why the OGR is still the best forum on the Net, great technical help from members like Barry, what a fantastic part of our hobby the OGR really is!

Although I've just joined this forum a couple of months ago, I've learned so much since I've been out of running trains for years. I've still collected them, but the operational portion, as I like to put it, "Life gets in the way".  I agree wholeheartedly with Dave's statement.
