Hi, I am setting up a 2 track layout about 18 x 12 and I have the opertunitunity to get a TIU on ebay, new old stock for a very good price. My question is can I use an older version TIU with a newer remote?

Bear,
I would strongly urge you to follow these rules when acquiring DCS components:
- Do not purchase on eBay
- Purchase only from an authorized MTH reseller
- Purchase only new products that have an MTH warranty
- Purchase only the latest DCS sets, i.e., a Rev. L TIU and DCS 4.20 or 4.30
- Oh, did I mention, do not purchase on eBay?
Barry is one hundred percent right. I have seen so many people get screwed big time on fleabay.
Berg,
Follow Barry's rules for purchasing your DCS or you will be sorry later on.
Never purchase a DCS on E-bay used or supposedly new, no matter how good of deal you think it is, always purchase the latest DCS from an authorized dealer and get the
Warranty that comes with it.
Both Marty & Barry are giving you the correct skinny, heed their advise!

When it comes to a TIU I would heed the advice previously given and only buy one from a reputable dealer who is able to do upgrades as they are released.
The cost to ship back and forth and repair is not worth the savings you will see by buying off of ebay.
Listening to Barry's and Marty's advice either through this forum, the DCS guide, or in-person has never steered me wrong.
To answer your question though--yes, you can use a new remote with an older version TIU and vice versa.

Greg,
yes, you can use a new remote with an older version TIU and vice versa.
Agreed, provided that they both have the same version of DCS.
Greg,
Barry is absolutely right I have the run away repaired train to prove it, some strange things can happen when you fail to follow Barry's advise about the mismatch.
