I went from one 70s era conventional layout to a fairly large collection in one day when I purchased the entire collection from a coworker. His deal was all or nothing. He stopped buying trains right before Legacy was introduced, so all the trains are either Lionel/MTH conventional or Lionel TMCC. We have divided the trains, rolling stock, and track between different members of the family. With the power supplies purchased, I have enough to run one TMCC layout, but not two. I would like to get enough to power two small to medium independent layouts. The items I already have to power the layouts are as follows:
Lionel ZW "Multi-Watt" transformer
4 each 180 watt power bricks
One each cab-1 and command base
One TMCC track power controller (TPC) 400
After researching the capabilities of what I have and the cost of more pieces, my initial thought was to combine the ZW, 2 power bricks, and the existing cab-1 for one layout. Then, combine the TPC 400, 2 power bricks and purchase another cab-1 and power base. But before I bought anything, I thought I would ask the forum for opinions and whether I am heading in the right direction. Any and all comments welcome.
