There was a very, very brief toy train scene on the 12/3 episode of Castle.

This was the Christmas episode. In one scene where Castle was attempting to convince Beckett to come to his apartment on Christmas Eve, he said something along the lines of "You have to see my train set."

At about the half way point of the show, they showed a toy train operating for a few seconds. I was viewing on cable via the free on demand service, so the the pause feature is limited and no ability to view in slow motion, but it appeared to be 3 rail track, so was probably O gauge. I couldn't determine any more details.

Very small exposure for the hobby. If you watch the show, the people who decorated Castle's apartment did a really nice job.

I looked at a few scenes in the episode on the network web site, and I think I have identified the set as a Lionel Santa's Flyer set.

In an early scene, I can see what appears to be a CW80 transformer (actually probably a PowerMax that comes in the set).

In the later scene where you can see the train running for a few seconds, the train appears to consist of steam locomotive (hard to identify), definitely an 0-8-0 tender, 3-dome tank car in candy cane stripe, box car, and caboose. These are the locomotive and cars in the Santa's Flyer set.

The train has been "antiqued" so the colors are muted and toned done from the bright red and green and white colors in the set, but you can see decals on the tender and caboose that look like the ones on the Santa Flyer set.

So, Lionel gets a train set on the Christmas episode of a highly rated TV show. But it is only on for a few seconds in a few different parts of the show, and no identification of the Lionel name. Nice to see toy trains on TV.
