Yes. If you have conventional engine running at a reasonable speed, that allows for 15 to 16 volts on the tracks, you should be able to run a TMCC engine also at the same time. Only thing is that when you stop the conventional engine the TMCC engine will also stop and reset.
Yes, its called transitional command control. The key is to get your conventional loco moving a a decent rate first, you then address your command loco and can run that. The catch is your limited by the track voltage that your conventional loco is running at, the faster its running more voltage you have to operate your tmcc loco, which responds better at higher voltages.Once things are going you toggle back and forth between track voltage and the tmcc address to make adjustments,i.e. usually when you start the tmcc loco the conventional one will slow down a bit, you can then address the track power and raise the voltage/speed of the loco. On a side not I've run Mth ps2 locos conventionally via a tpc, and once they started moving speed control and functions worked well to the point it was difficult to tell it was being operated conventionally.
Dale; THANK-YOU! Set up my main block and ran several conventional shelf queens tonight along with my TMCC and Legacy engines. Ran like a champ! Now to get the dust off many more conventional units and keep the track clean!
