I have a very large box full of Lionel 027 track. There appear to be at least 3 sizes for the curve pieces of track, so was wondering:
1. Did Lionel actually produce 3 or possibly more curve sizes for 027?
2. Is there a way to measure a piece of 027 curve track to determine the intended curve size?

Lionel made 027 curves in 27 & 42 radius that I know of. I have heard that there is 54 inch curve in 027 profile, not sure of that.
Best thing to do is set up a circle of like track and measure the size of the circle to see what size curve you have. Again 27 inch is the smaller curve size in 027.

"Modern" Lionel (after 1970) made O27-profile track with O27 - O42 - O54 curves.
O27 curves are 45-degree arc (for full section), 8 to a circle
O42 curves are 30-degree arc, 12 to a circle
O54 curves are 22.5-degree arc, 16 to a circle
K-Line also made O27-profile track with those curve sizes, also O72 and possibly some other curves. The K-Line track may have fractionally different radii and lengths, like maybe 1/4" longer on some.
