Read an article awhile back and all you do is re-wet everything and the track will come right up.
Yes, Like F & G said, wet the ballast thoroughly, let it soak in a bit and it will come up. You may have to wait a bit for it to soften but it will soften.
Thank you gentlemen, worked like a champ. I tohought it would work but wanted to pose the question in case any one had run into problems doing it. Now just have to clean up the track and let the homsote dry out before laying new track. AGAIN THANK YOU !
You're welcome. Did you paint your Homosote with Latex paint before ballasting? If not, you should. It will help seal it.

Yes I did and it is helping, does take a lot of water to loosen up the ballast thou. I am putting the ballast in a bucket and will fill it with water and maybe salvage the ballast. I hae added almost 100 square feet to the layout and have to remove about 100 feet of track to allow for a wider radius curve 080, 089 as opposed to 072 and 054 for some of my scale motive power. I am also adding a scratch built tranfer table, built by a friend (Charlie Kaufman) as a thank you for me helping him with several open house days over the holidays( he has a great layout based on local history here in South Central PA). Also adding a 36 inch turntable (not aquired yet).

That is the one I intend to buy. Looking at all the ones out there for O Gauge, they are the best bang for the buck. I like the drive system and it is mostly metal unlike some of the otheres out there.
