Been a while since I posted any photos of projects here, but I just wrapped up this little build of a tank car.  Really an adaption of the Hinckely & Schmitt water car onto a traction flat, but I had the decals and I've built several of these cars over the years in a non-traction format, but I thought why not have one to go behind one of freight motors...

As I noted, this is an adaption of the original H&S car onto a traction flat.  The H&S water tank cars were quite real and plans for them were in the old Stevens Dollar car articles back in the late '50s; the H&S company still exists in Chicago.

There were indeed box & reefer trailers, flats & gons or all sorts, and there were even hopper cars for transporting coal.  There were also stock cars and stock car motors.  The array of possibilities in traction is quite diverse!

There were tank cars but almost all that I have seen so far were associated with sprinkler car functions for either weed control or for dust control.

I've got a set of plans for one that THI&E had and those and articles were in Traction & Models many years ago.

And, you can buy a built up shell of one from MTH - that's Midwest Train Hobbies,  in 2 versions, with or w/o the modesty panels.  You need to add all of the details, drives, etc......

I've also built one of the stock trailer cars.
