Do tracton tires swell in the heat?

On my Hudson, the middle set of drivers have the traction tire. I have been having a problem with the engine derailing on a curve switch (72/54) which it never did before. While putting the engine back on the track, I noticed it would rock forward and backward...the middle set of drivers acting like the fulcrum of a see-saw.

With the traction tire being on the middle set of drivers...which are normally suppose to blank...the drivers aren't allowed to slide and overhang the curve on the switch. Swollen traction tires might aggravate the problem.

Help!!!

Not only were Postwar inner drivers blank (no flanges), most (if not all) of them were of a slightly smaller diameter than the outer wheels. I am not positive, but this probably holds true for the inner blank wheels on postwar FM trucks.
